KINTURU Oxblood Red Twin-Handle Classical Scene Ceramic Urn Vase
KINTURU | Oxblood Red Classical Scene Ceramic Urn with Gold Twin Handles
The banquet table of antiquity — brought into the considered home.
✦ ABOUT THIS PIECE
This ceramic urn draws its form directly from the ancient Greek crater — the wide-mouthed, round-bodied mixing vessel that stood at the centre of classical banquets and ceremonies. Translated into fine porcelain, the silhouette retains the authority of the original: a broad, generous mouth that opens to receive generous flower arrangements; a full, rounded body that commands presence; a substantial flared pedestal foot that elevates the piece with ceremonial weight.
The body is glazed in a deep oxblood red — a colour with centuries of history in both European and East Asian ceramic traditions, prized for its richness and its extraordinary depth under changing light. Against this ground, a full-width classical scene in white bisque bas-relief wraps the front of the vessel: graceful figures — a pair of goddesses or muses, a playful cherub — rendered in the flowing drapery and natural proportion of neoclassical sculpture, surrounded by flowering branches and foliate ornaments. The relief is high and fully three-dimensional; the figures cast their own shadows against the deep red ground as the light shifts.
On the reverse face, a single formal snowflake-cross ornamental crest — white bisque with gold border — provides a heraldic counterpoint to the narrative scene on the front.
Three horizontal gold bands — each carrying intricate floral scroll relief work — define the rim, the waist, and the pedestal transitions. The two handles are fully gilded in bright gold, each cast in a fluid S-scroll volute form that echoes the Baroque decorative vocabulary of the piece. The pedestal foot carries its own gold acanthus relief band at the base ring.
✦ KEY FEATURES
🔴 Ancient Greek Crater Form — Wide-mouthed, round-bodied urn silhouette derived from the classical mixing vessel; the form carries historical authority and monumental visual presence

🔴 Classical Scene Bas-Relief — Full-width white bisque relief depicting goddesses, a cherub, and flowering branches wrapping the front body; high-relief with genuine three-dimensional figure modelling
🔴 Heraldic Back Crest — A single formal snowflake-cross ornamental relief with gold border on the reverse face; transforms the back of the urn into a secondary decorative composition

🔴 Full Gold Twin S-Scroll Handles — Both handles are entirely gilded in bright gold, cast in fluid Baroque volute forms; functional, structural, and decorative simultaneously

✦ STYLING NOTES
🌹 Pink peonies, cream roses, dusty rose blooms, white filler flowers, and soft botanical greenery pair naturally with the oxblood ground — the wide mouth accommodates full, lush, dome-shaped arrangements with ease; equally beautiful with artificial flowers for a permanent display
🏛️ The urn form and classical scene make this a natural centrepiece for dining tables, entrance hall consoles, fireplace mantels, and any interior that references European classical or Baroque heritage
✨ The reverse heraldic crest means both faces of the urn are fully considered — position the piece to show either face depending on the room layout
🎁 An exceptional gift of significant presence — suitable for weddings, milestone anniversaries, housewarming celebrations, and collectors of fine decorative ceramics
✦ CARE
Wipe with a soft dry cloth. The white bisque figure relief is fully three-dimensional — avoid pressure on the raised figures when cleaning. The gold handle mounts, gold band work, and pedestal relief are all gilded surfaces; keep dry and avoid abrasive contact. Do not submerge. Do not place in a dishwasher. The wide opening allows easy water filling if used as a functional vase.
